Wise words from Yoda don’t you think?
So we all know the drill by now – New Year, new you!
So how are your resolutions going? According to research about 60 percent of us admit that we make New Year’s resolutions, but only about 8 percent are successful in achieving them.
This year I really want to achieve more “me time” – just time for myself. I’m not convinced that this is going to be possible but as Yoda say’s I need to just do it!
So in an ideal world finding more “me time” is finally about achieving a work life balance and also finding “CML” again!
Losing that post-pregnancy weight and finding more energy is where I would like to start! Darren bought me a health watch for Christmas and I actually love it. Although it took me until New Year to find the time to get it out of its box, I haven’t taken it off my wrist since!
It’s a gentle reminder that I need to get up and walk as well as confirming how much exercise I’m doing daily chasing around after both Alfie and Betsy. In fact, I easily do my recommended 10,000 steps on the day’s I’m not at work compared to the days I’m in work, which only proves the point that I go to work for a rest!!???
I now find myself having to walk to and from work for 10-15 minutes and I love it as it’s time for me.
I had gestational diabetes (type 2) throughout both my pregnancies and although I’m fine now, I’m likely to develop type 2 diabetes when I am older. I’m therefore keen to keep a watchful eye on my diet and especially on my sugar intake. Which lets face it is hard when you’re living with two self confessed sugar monsters – Darren and Alfie!
So I’m determined I’ve got to get active this year and get back into something be it swimming or running.
Signing up to a challenge is the key I think. May be I will start with the #10YearChallenge? To stay motivated and achieve my goals I need to make a commitment. Perhaps by writing this blog, telling everyone my plans and regularly updating everyone with my progress even on the hardest days when I just don’t feel like it will spur me on! Fingers crossed!
Besides being more active I would really like to re-discover a long lost childhood hobby. Be it getting back into my crafty ways, watching Pompey, playing music or joining a drama group!
Somewhere between adolescence and becoming a grown-up, my favourite pastime has become just that: something I did in a past time.
January is definitely the month for dreaming don’t you think? Well, who knows this just might be the year that I achieve every goal that I set for myself.
Watch out World I’m determined that this is the year where I will be stronger, braver, kinder and unstoppable. This year I will be fierce!
So here’s my #10YearChallenge – 1st challenge of 2019 completed!
