Every December, Alfie’s and Betsy’s elves have brought magic, mischief, and plenty of giggles into our home. From silly pranks to sweet surprises, they’ve been part of our Christmas countdown for years. But this year, things are going to be a little different…
The elves have written to let us know they’re taking a well-deserved holiday this year. Why?
- Life is a little hectic for Mummy right now – and the elves know that Christmas should be joyful, not stressful.
- Betsy (not Alfie!) is growing up and starting to suspect that Mummy might have something to do with all the elf antics!
But don’t worry – the elves still want to make sure Alfie and Betsy feel the magic of Christmas. They’ve sent a special message with a new plan…
Letter from #ThoseElves 📮

Dear Alfie and Betsy,
We’ve loved every moment of our visits over the past few Christmases – your laughter and excitement have made our elf hearts so happy!
This year, we’re taking a little holiday to recharge our magic. But we have a very important mission for you to do – spread the true spirit of Christmas.
Here’s the deal:
Every day in Advent, do something Christmassy together with Mummy.
These activities don’t need to be big or fancy – just fun and full of love.
Each time you do, you’ll earn your spot on the Good List (and help Mummy feel the magic too!).
Remember: Christmas isn’t about tricks or toys – it’s about kindness, family, and joy.
We’ll be watching from our holiday destination (wherever in the World that may be!) and cheering you on!
Love and jingles,
#ThoseElves 🧑🎄
Festive Activity Ideas 💡
Here’s some easy, budget-friendly ideas that the elves have given us for our Advent challenge:
- Write a letter to Santa – and post it together.
- Hot chocolate night – extra marshmallows required!
- Wear your Christmas jumper – have a Christmas Jumper day or make it a weekend rule to wear something festive.
- Make homemade Christmas decorations – paper chains, salt dough ornaments, or recycled crafts.
- Write Christmas cards and help post them – Go for a festive walk and post your Christmas cards through people’s letter boxes.
- Bake festive treats – gingerbread men or simple cookies.
- Christmas movie night – snuggle up with a classic.
- Create a Christmas playlist – and have a family dance-off.
- Go on a Christmas lights walk – explore your neighbourhood sparkle.
- Make a kindness advent calendar – one good deed each day.
- DIY wrapping paper – decorate plain paper with stamps or drawings.
- Read a Christmas story together – by the tree or under a blanket.
- Buy a gift – go Christmas shopping and buy a small/surprise gift for someone.
- Decorate the tree together – make it a family event.
- Go to a Carol concert – or have a mini karaoke night.
- Donate toys or food – teach the joy of giving.
